I've just bought a bearded Belgian bantam hen at Ardingly and have just discovered she has worms. She is also breathing heavily which is making a slight noise. We have x breeds who are healthy. Help!!

Re: New Bantam
Sorry. It may sound harsh but for the sake of your birds I think you should isolate it well away from your healthy birds.I should contact the seller and arrange to return it.Birds at large shows and sales are stressed and even if they go healthy are exposed to any infectious disease bought in on other birds.Good luck sorting it,Ros

Thanks ever so much Ros. I have telephoned them now and they are very concerned and have asked me to take it back tomorrow.

Re: New Bantam
I think that is very reasonable of them The respiratory symptom$ may or may not be relevant but you cannot risk your birds or taking on vets bills for the poor bantam.I am pleased they have helped.Ros
