Yesterday i noticed my rooster was acting odd and his comb change from a very bright red toa very dark purple.... Today he is unactive hardly fit to stand up and is breathing heavly.....
Only difference was that i gave him corn the day before this happened.. so could he be allergic??

Dark combs & breathing difficulties could indicate heart problems.

Not much help really but I don't think there's much you can do. Not even sure if a vet could help & being Sunday it will be an expensive emergency visit. :(

Keep him separate & quiet & see if he recovers on his own. ;)

i doubt it as the night temperatures have been 0-5 oC over the last week or 2 and he was fine during the winter at -7-ish oC?

I think cp is probably right its heart problem, not unusual in cockerels. I got one who looks like hes gonna burst a blood vessel sometimes then fine an hour later.

The crop is where they store food before it passes through to the stomach & gizzard. ;)
