Help sexing buff sussex chicks
Hello. These 2 chicks are my first ever hatching. They are 2 buff sussex. I was told from prize winning stock. I saw the parent buff cockerell and he had a brood of about 12 hens. These 2 hatching are a week old. They are likely to be from different mothers but they look quite distinctally different. One is lighter in colour and has no sign of much tail feathering. Does that mean he is a cockerell?

Know sod all about the breed but if I was a betting bloke the chick in the foreground is a boy, best post more pics in a few weeks.
Re: Help sexing buff sussex chicks
I would also guess the chick in the foreground is a boy, sussex girls do tend to feather up quicker. But it is guesswork at this stage, so do post again in a few weeks

Sussex - heavy breed - pullets feather faster than cockerels. One of each.
Guinea fowl & a lot of surplus poultry equipment.
