Quails with Chickens?

Post by driver_hr » 22 Aug 2013, 16:08

Hello guys, this may be a silly question but I thought id ask anyway lol. Currently I have 12 chickens in a 14 x 9 feet outdoor aviary and they free range in the daytime in the garden. I have always liked quails, is it possible to keep a couple of quails with the chickens? Thank You.

i wouldn't. hens generally view small birds as either mobile snacks or an amusement to enjoy attacking.
also quail are not good at returning to home after being allowed out. they have no instinct to roost in same place every night. they would be total hell to catch if allowed to free range in a garden- and even with clipped wings are very good at getting under fencing etc
