how to cool chooks in hot weather

now the weather is getting hotter the chhocks are panting quite a bit, i put the fan on in front of their run and the run is in the shade, they have plenty of clean water, any tips on keeping them cool :)

I put white sheets over their house and run to reflect the sun. When it's scorching, I wet the sheet. Has to be well weighed down to prevent it flapping in the breeze.

Mine go and sit on the floor behind the coop, under a big overhanging bush. Never really gets any sun at all in the bit, kind of NE facing. Other than that, maybe try chucking them an ice-lolly in or some ice cubes. Any animal that pants to cool benefits from this, dogs and cats included.

Alternatively, shave them :mrgreen: (joke by the way, before anyone gets the clippers out)

Aylesbury x Campbells, a breeding colony of Dubia cockroaches.

And a lot of Ibuprofen.

as CPL says make sure they have shade and lots of water they will do fine then onlyy 32 C here yesterday and the chooks where to fine
