Can you include - for table and also for pleasure - not every one of our chooks are destined for the freezer - not that savage ( although a friend calls me the grim reaper - can be nice sometimes )

from the begining i wanted to start with a couple of chickens progressing to having enough to lay eggs and have some for the table, it wasnt until i registered on here and learnt more about chickens that i realised that some chickens whilst good for egg production are too small for eating birds, it has just been a natural progression from egg to bird to table realy :D

I haven't - YET - my chooks are for eggs and pleasure, but never say never (I'm just a woos at the thought of killing them!). I have a friend who is about to start keeping chooks for the table - up to now she has had them for eggs only - and I know it has alot to do with the programe.

love me, love my 4 dogs, 3 cats, over 100 chickens (but don't tell OH) and 7 sheep - oops, almost forgot the 2 tanks of fish!

I live in my own little world but it's ok - they know me here!

I'd like to think I've been in the 'real' world.

That said, according to Mrs Sedgewort :rr: [-X :hippy2: ::- "I've always lived in a world of my own"

I used to rear table birds, and am thinking of doing a few for myself in the future :D

Hugh and Jamie who???????
There the Chiefs of the Chickeena Tribe

it just so happens that i got the chickens at about the same time as there campaign came out, but it didn't influence me at all, i have been moaning about the eggs we get from Tesco for a few years now, and haven't eaten an egg for a year, and i like eggs, so thats why i wanted hens so i could "Grow my own" if fact i think the campaign is a pain in the Ass, i cant now get free range chicken to eat anymore , where as it was freely available before the campaign, so now i HAVE to eat cheap chicken, and you cant tell me all these people didn't know how a standard chicken lived before all this TV nonsense come about? people are just not that stupid (not even me) if you ask me its just a case of jumping on a band wagon, and going with a trend, like eco friendly recyclable bags (that are shipped over from China)

(God help us all )[/quote]
