need an idea for drawer freshener thingies

Post by Greggorio » 08 Oct 2010, 17:01

Cut loads of lavender which is now dried and ready but need a simple design that me and my girlfriend can handle to handstitch lots of.

She wants to do hearts but i wonder if thats an awful lot of stitching really... Any other ideas. Obviously the simple thing is just piuches tied up with a stitch and a ribbon to decorate it and job done in minutes. But willing for it to be a bit more work then that. just need ideas really

Also as an added note my hands now stink of lanvender as i was crushing it to get rid of some of the stalks... i hate lavender smell... smells like old people (the intended recipients of these presents)

Use pinking shears and cut circles of pretty material. Put lavender flowers in the centre, draw up edges and tie with ribbon.

If you really don't like sewing, have you thought about lavender wands?

Here is one link with clear step-by-step photographic instructions, but if you Google you might find others more to your taste -

tidy yourself up, go to any cloth shop and asked for swatches of material and they will give you little patches to make into pouches.
Dont park your car outside the shop or they will think you are the rag and bone man after a freebie ;)

lavender wands are good but too late if they are dried and off the stem little pouches of plain cloth with coloured tulle contrasting ribbon cut fabric with pinking shears so it doesn't fray practice with different size circles to get the right size !

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinking_shears

They stop the material fraying avoiding the need for hemming and seams.
