Housing in Winter
Hi, I am thinking of putting the coop in a shed over winter so the girls have more space to use when its cold and horrible outside. We will let them out into their run during the day and into the garden if they want to go out. I was just wondering what other people do? My priorities are keeping them...

Re: ID Tags?
Thanks for the advice.
We seem to have found a simple solution :-) Leg tags with our address and phone number on them! So simple so I am hoping it works. The girls are in a fully enclosed garden so its unlikely they will ever be needed but its helped my peace of mind.

Rabbits!
Just wondering if their are any other bunny parents on here? We have 2 rabbits along with the hens! We used to split garden time between the hens and bunnies but we can now let all 5 of them have play time in the garden at the same time (supervised) with no trouble - if anything they just ignore eac...

Start/Stop Laying
Hello, I am afraid this is yet another newbie question! Two of our three hens are now in lay, Claret came into lay about a month ago and has consistently laid 5 eggs a week whenever she has taken a break it has only been a day between lays. Over the last week however this pattern is changing, last w...

ID Tags?
Good evening, My partner and I have been talking about getting our girls microchipped so that in the unlikely event we have any escapees they can be identified. We are unsure that many people would take a chicken to the vets to be scanned so are also thinking about getting some form of ID tag for th...

Pecking Hen
Hi, Let me first say that I wasn't sure about where I should place this question.. so I hope its in the right place. One of my pullets has taken to pecking over the last couple of days, its only my fingers and doesn't hurt that much, however its getting to the point that when ever I put my hand near...

Pullets not wanting to leave the coop!!
First let me say that I am very new to chicken keeping! I have 3 pullets who arrived last Sunday, I was completely prepared for them to be nervous about leaving the coop to use the run for the first couple of days. However they seem to prefer the coop to going outside :| The feeder and water drinker...
