Quail help needed

I agree, more females to keep order. Mine are running around the greenhouse at the mo,they go in there at winter and have done for years. They have a house in there that I leave open so they can come and go and there is a heat bulb to give them some warmth if it gets colder. But they are tough cooki...

Feather loss

I've treated for lice a couple of days before as the coop had another complete strip clean, I also dusted them when I first saw the feather loss, there was no blood today which could be a good sign.

Thanks for your replies.

Feather loss

Thanks for the replies, beak bits went on last night, saddles have been ordered and anti peck/purple spray is on. Today there was no blood so I'm hoping the beak bits have helped enough until the saddle arrives

Feather loss

Thanks for the quick reply. I've got some beak bits that the other two can wear for a while. Where's the best place to get a saddle? I have four chickens in another coop that have never done this. Are they just bored?

Thanks mark

Feather loss

Hello all. I have a six month old ranger who is fine in her self. Laying everyday. Pecking around. About two days ago I noticed some feathers missing around the bottom of her back. Now she is baldish and the skin has been cut in places. The two other girls who she shares the coop with are fine. It's...

Thinking of keeping ducks

I have a khaki Campbell which as fallen in to the pond twice and can't get out quick enough which I find strange (a duck that doesn't like water) and my welsh harlequins ( really good looking ducks :-) ) cant wait to get in to the pond. I really enjoy the ducks but can't understand why they quack fo...

Time to build a new house - Advise Please

I have ducks and chickens together and there is no problem. The chickens house is on the top floor and the duck house is underneath, they don't sleep together.

tyre valve drinkers

Aren't they used as an adaptor from the water source to a 10mm tube that goes to the automatic drinker? (that's what I use them for) :-)

Caring for ducks

Eggs are really nice and meant to be better for you(only what i have read on the internet) I boil them for two - two and a half mins so slightly running in the middle. Scotch eggs are nice as well. I keep mine in a large rabbit hutch. I wouldn't keep them with the chickens as they are very delicate ...
