Re: fox problem and barking dog!

Thank you all for your interest. We had a good night last night..... grandsons camping in the garden. I wonder if I can borrow them for the summer holidays :). I don't think a camping dog who may escape from a tent counts as fox hunting does it?

Re: fox problem and barking dog!

Thanks for suggestions so far, actually I had thought about letting her out but I was wary of creating more noise at 2am in the morning, but maybe it will come to that in the end. I'm sure neighbours would forgive a few minutes of demented barking in the early hours. Maybe we could pretend it was th...

fox problem and barking dog!

Hi, I hope you will forgive me as this isn't technically a poultry question as our chickens and ducks are in fox proof runs. But we still have a fox problem! A fox family visits our garden on a nightly basis in order for mother fox to do things mother foxes do while her children play in an excited n...

Black Indian Ducklings

Hi, I have just got a pair of black indian ducklings who will eventually live among the chickens when they're big enough. They are about 11 weeks old. Can anyone please advise me at what age can I give them some treats such as a few greens and/or dried meal worm. They are on growers at the moment an...

GLUE FOR MAGNETS

Hi.
I am wanting to make some fridge magnets, I have magnets but they are not the adhesive ones.
Can anyone please advise what type of glue is the best to glue a topper on to them?

Re: Help! Blood on egg!

Thanks drfish, I have just started steeping fresh oregano to add to water, but it will be much easier just to pop a bit of dried in.

Re: Help! Blood on egg!

Ok thanks for that advice. How do you put the garlic in? Do you crush one clove per drinker?

Re: Help! Blood on egg!

Thank you, crazypianolady. Yes she could be coming back into lay, we have been having fewer eggs than usual. I don't think the girls have been enjoying the weather any more than we have! No signs of a prolapse. Yes feeders and drinkers are washed daily, I add cod liver oil to their mash for winter b...

Help! Blood on egg!

Hi, I've just collected the eggs from the nest box and one is smeared with blood. I've inspected all 5 bottoms and there is a couple of tiny blood marks around the opening on Rosie. She is an ex bat that we have had for a year, so not a new layer. Should I be worried? What should I do? She also has ...

Re: Semi-Temopory Run - Waterlogging issues?

We use wood chip which is very effective, soaks up the rain and is comfortable underfoot, for us as well.... clay is mighty slippery when wet! We take all our garden buckets, sacks etc to our local tree surgeons and they charge us £5 to fill the back of the car. Every few months I rake it all out, o...

runny poo or diarrhoea?

Hi, I have been given a Ross Cobb, saved from slaughter, because she appears to be a bit of a throw back. She is very different from the others, in that she is clearly bright, she is proper chicken shape, unlike the others who look like supermarket chickens with feathers! I'm sure anyone who rears m...
